Check Ups

We woke up this morning dreading the goodbye that was soon to come. Today was the day that the group of 12 from North Carolina had to return home. They did such great things for the children at Wings of Hope and everyone was sad to see them go. Even Steve, the most energetic and happy person of all, was down today. We love having visitors, but hate seeing them go. It makes me dread the day that Katie, Kerin, and I have to leave. After we all said our goodbyes, it was back to the normal routine.; serve breakfast, pray, and start morning activities. The teacher for our normal class was not here today, so Katie and I had to take over, leaving the project that Katie and I are supposed to be doing to start another day. During morning session, a group of people showed up to conduct eye and dental exams on the children and some staff members. They ordered some pizza from town and Katie and I were nominated by Renee to meet the delivery driver at the market. We went with Gary in the back of a truck that drove us to the top of the muddy, bumpy road to retrieve 16 pizzas for everyone! On the truck ride, Gary deemed me his "double". I think he meant twin, but I'm not quite sure! Haha! We then brought the pizza back to Wings and got to chow down! It was amazing! Then it was on to eye and dental exams. They were able to check everyone's eyes and give glasses to those who needed them. After eye exams, they headed to the dental chair where they recieved a check up and had any problems fixed that needed to be; everything from cleaning to extractions. I feel that the dental check ups went very well. We had only a few children who needed fillings and just one who needed two teeth pulled. Needless to say, it was a sad day for him. I was amazed at how fast they got everything done. They examined 31 children and several staff members and conducted all necessary work in about 2.5 hours! Crazy! I have spent that long at the dentist just for myself! They were amazing! After that, we went upstairs to reclaim our room; the one plus side of visitors leaving. After we got everything resettled, Katie and I decided to do an Insanity work out since we haven't done it in almost two weeks! It felt great to get some blood pumping! Now its time for showers and leftover pizza for dinner! Love to all!
P.S. Our care package has arrived! Thanks Mommy!
